The defence Ministry of Belgium is planning to sue American search engine company Google over its failure to blur satellite images of sensitive military sites.

Referring to national security, the ministry had previously asked for sites such as air bases and nuclear power stations to be blurred on Google’s satellite mapping services, however the company seemingly overlooked the request.

Now the defence military has decided to take legal action against Google. Google has reportedly complied with similar requests from other governments.

Belgium has been the base of operations for a number of terrorist attacks in the 2010s, including the November 2015 Paris attacks.

Poor integration and Belgian political instability have been blamed for these problems.
