One of the major police academies in Thailand has recently announced that it will ban women from registering the courses.

Thailand’s Royal Police Cadet Academy (RPCA) has said it will not allow female candidates from the next academic year.

Worawut Sripakhon, an RPCA captain, did not give a valid reason for the new rule.

The academy simply said “It’s policy. We are not permitted to offer any additional information than that.”

The academy, which actually started accepting female applicants in 2009, has produced over 700 policewomen.

However, women will be able to become police officers through other academies in Thailand.

But then again the move has been extensively understood as the newest in a pattern of sexist police recruitment judgements.
