A Brand-new System That Can Predict Heart Attack Risks: Here’s How It Works

Research teams at Oxford University together with institutions in United States and Germany have developed a brand-new system which can foresee which patients are at risk of a heart attack years before it transpires by examining CT (computed tomography) scans.

The method uses algorithms to check the fat surrounding coronary arteries as it shows up on the scan.

That fat gets altered when an artery converts inflamed, helping as an early cautionary system for heart attacks.

In the United States, approximately 11% of people between 20 and 40 have CVD (Cardiovascular disease) while 37% between 40 and 60, 71% of people between 60 and 80, and 85% of people over 80 have CVD.

The average age of death from coronary artery disease in the Developed Countries is around 80 while it is around 68 in the developing world.

Disease arrival is typically seven to ten years earlier in men as compared to women.
