Environment Ministry Holds Condolence meeting in memory of Late …

          Paying tributes to Late Shri Manikandan, a 2001 batch IFS officer killed in an attack by a wild tusker in Karnataka, as a conscientious and an honest officer, Union Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Dr. Harsh Vardhan has said that words are not enough to express condolences to the members of the bereaved family.  Addressing a condolence meeting held in the memory of Late Shri Manikandan at Indira Paryavaran Bhawan here today, Dr. Harsh Vardhan said that Shri Manikandan had an illustrious career. 

          Expressing similar sentiments, Secretary, MoEF&CC, Shri C.K Mishra stated that in Shri Manikandan’s demise, the Ministry has lost a dear colleague and a friend.  “Our heart goes out to the members of the bereaved family”, Shri Mishra said.  Director General, Forests and Special Secretary, MoEF&CC, Dr. Siddhant Das also expressed his condolences on Shri Manikandan’s demise.

          A condolence message on behalf of IFS Association was read out on the occasion.  A two-minute silence was observed in his memory.

          The 45-year old IFS officer passed away following an attack by a wild tusker in Nagarhole Tiger Reserve on March 3, 2018.  He was conducting a survey in DB Kuppe Forest Range when the incident took place.   An Indian Forest Service officer of 2001 batch, Shri Manikandan was performing his duties as the Conservator of Forests and Director of Nagarhole Tiger Reserve, Karnataka.

          Shri Manikandan is survived by his wife, a daughter and a son.
